Wild Animals

Inspired by the photographs of Nick Brandt and an article in B&W Photography on Steve Gosling's new book "Under African Skies" I decided to convert a series of my photos of 'wild" animals into black and white. These photos were mainly taken in the Kariega Game Reserve in South Africa but some are from trips to Chile and Nepal.

Hippo in the river at Kariega. Another advantage of a long lens as hippos can move very quickly if you get too close.

Coming round a large bush in the land rover this 2.5 tonnes of black rhino was coming towards us causing the driver to stop quickly and slowly reverse. Apparently the rhino reads this as a sign of submission and takes no further interest.
